Purpose

Auc-Util-Glypher or Glypher provides a group of functions to assist Scribes, or Inscriptionists, as they are known, with the management of Glyphs.

Required Addons

Glypher requires either Lil' Sparky's clone of Skillet or Advanced Trade Skill Window.

Lil' Sparky's clone of Skillet works without modification, and is highly recommended.

Advanced Trade Skill Window requires a slight modification to work properly. In Interface/AddOns/AdvancedTradeSkillWindow/atsw.lua, change:

local atsw_preventupdate=false;

to:

atsw_preventupdate=false;

Basic Functions

Glypher is designed to find those glyphs that will make you a profit. You set up the minimum profit, which is how much you are willing to make off the glyph. Further down you have the considered sales, expired filters, days to stock and max stock.

When adjusting the configuration, the names of slider bars may change from white to yellow or red. White indicates a reasonable configuration - Glypher should work as intended. Yellow indicates a warning condition - the configuration may not work very well. Red indicates an error condition - the configuration may not work at all.

Glyph Creation Configuration

Minimum profit is the least amount of profit you want in order to consider crafting glyphs, based upon the current conditions - appraised selling price and cost to produce.

You may restrict glyphs to those using a specified ink.

Considered sales takes a look at you beancounter data for the amount of days you set on the slider.

Expired filter is your expired to success ratio filter. It will look at how many you are posting and selling as opposed to how many you are posting and are expiring. So for 20:1 it will stop suggesting that glyph at 20 expires (or fails) for every one you sell.

Days to stock is how many days worth of stock it will suggest you have considering your sales in the past of the glyph.

Min stock is the minimum amount you'd like to have on hand (bank, bags, AH) after you craft glyphs, regardless of sales history. If set to zero, Glypher will make only enough to stock per your sales history and days to stock. If set above zero, Glypher will stock the greater of your min stock or your sales history data and days to stock setting.

Min craft is the minimum number of each glyph you'd like to craft when you need to craft that glyph. This can be used to reduce the amount of effort when crafting glyphs on a regular basis. If crafting your min craft would put you over your max stock, Glypher will hold off on crafting, as to avoid constantly topping off your max stock by crafting less than your min craft.

Max stock is just the maximum amount of each type of glyph you want to keep in stock at any given time.

Price of a single Northrend herb is used to determine the cost of ink. Currently it uses the milling probability of the lower Northrend herbs, like Goldclover. If you want to manually price your cost of inks, just divide your ink cost by 4 and enter that for the herb cost.

New Glyph Configuration

This section is for those glyphs that you haven't made before (0 fails in BeanCounter history). You have 4 sliders- Make new, Current Model, Sales History, Market Price.

Make new is the amount of glyphs that you want to make on a new glyph whether it is newly discovered or you have 0 sales and 0 fails in BeanCounter history. It is important to set this high enough so that sales will "seed" your sales history. Even if you already know every glyph, you probably should never set this to zero.

The other 3 sliders are weights on different pricing models so that Glypher can determine what a glyph is worth.

Value Weights

The next three sliders are used to determine what a glyph is worth. (Note that this is for both "new" glyphs and glyphs with a sales history. Probably deserves a SubHead in the addon.)

Current Model is how much weight you want to apply to the current pricing model for each particular glyph. For example: market, sales, purchased, Glypher etc. Less weight means less price for that item according to glypher.

Sales History is exactly like Current model but this is working with your BeanCounter data.

Market Price is how much you want to use market price to figure out the price of newly discovered glyphs since you may or may not have any data for them.

Glypher Pricing Model

This is a different section as it is actually a pricing model that you can use in appraiser. You set your minimum price that it will not go below and a max price that it will go UP to if the competition is below your minimum setting. There is also a undercut part that you set up. It will undercut the competition (down to your minimum setting of course).

Note that if you use the Glypher pricing model in Appraiser, that you should leave the "Enable price matching" box unchecked, as Glypher does all the match work for you.

There is a Whitelist for undercutting. If you are partners or have someone that you don't want to undercut (like an alt) then you would add their name here. It will ignore them as competition when trying to price your glyphs. If you would like to have multiple characters in your whitelist, separate them with a colon (':').

The Ignore Time Left will ignore competition under the specified time you set when trying to price your glyphs. If you don't want to include those competition that are getting ready to expire then you would set it to 30 minutes.

Misc Options

Auto Clear Skill Queue: This option clears your tradeskill queue (Skillet or ATSW) when you press "Get Profitable" or "Add to Skill".

Use Ink Trader: If you use the ink trader, checking this option will cause Glypher to tell your tradeskill addon to not queue the inks. You will get a total count of Ink of the Sea that you need in order to complete your queue when Get Profitable is done processing.

Buttons

Scan Glyphs: This does a category scan on the auction house, for the Glyph category, in order to update Auctioneer's image of all glyphs.

Get Profitable scans your skill book to find glyphs which can be made profitably and are needed according to your configuration.

Add to Skill transfers the list of glyphs generated by the Get Profitable process to your trade skill queue.

Extended Functions and Technical Details

Slash Commands

/auc util glypher show -- Shows/hides the Glypher UI

/auc util glypher makemaxstock -- Toggles the makemaxstock flag. When makemaxstock is on, any time you have zero stock of a glyph, Glypher will queue up your maximum stock number of that glyph.

/auc util glypher hardminstock -- Toggles the hardminstock flag. When hardminstock is on, any time you are below your minimum stock, Glypher will queue up at least your minimum craft number of glyphs, so that you're never below minimum stock. Setting this may increase your crafting effort, and may result in carrying more inventory than necessary - especially on unpopular glyphs.

DataStore

DataStore is an optional set of addons which provide additional functionality to Glypher to allow better management of a multi-character glyph business.

DataStore is a set of addons which provide the back-end for Altoholic. If you have Altoholic, or the following DataStore addons installed, Glypher will provide you with functionality to extend your glyph business to your alts and an optional guild vault.

  • DataStore_Auctions - tracks items you have on auction
  • DataStore_Containers - tracks bags, banks, and guild vault
  • DataStore_Mails - tracks items in your mailboxes

DataStore Configuration

Altlist is the list of alts used in your glyph business, separated by a colon (':').

Guild is the optional guild vault to consider to be part of your inventory for your glyph business.
