Introduction
A step by step guide to installing/upgrading AuctioneerThis guide will graphically show you how to install or upgrade your Auctioneer version to the latest version on MS Windows XP.
- A similar process can be applied to OS X or Linux installations, however the paths and tools you will use will be different.
- As of the 3.x patch, Blizzard moved the WoW Installation for those on MS Windows Vista to ..\Public\Users\games, so look there if you do not see it in the "usual" spot.
NOTE, If you use MS Windows Vista, be sure to read and follow the instructions discussed within the following post: discussed here: http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14650.
Backing up
Upgrading only - See Backup your SavedVariables fileDownloading
Go to The Auctioneer download page to download the latest stable release of Auctioneer, and save it to your disk.Finding your AddOns
Browse to your AddOns folder which is at ..\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns on your hard disk.Deleting old folders
Once you have found your AddOns folder, select and delete the following folders. We will be re-extracting them from the newly downloaded zip file from step 1.!Swatter, Auc-Advanced, Auc-DB, Auc-Filter-Basic, Auc-Filter-Outlier, Auc-Match-Undercut, Auc-ScanData, Auc-Stat-BeanCount, Auc-Stat-Classic, Auc-Stat-Histogram, Auc-Stat-iLevel, Auc-Stat-Purchased, Auc-Stat-Simple, Auc-Stat-StdDev, Auc-Stat-WoWecon, Auc-Util-Appraiser, Auc-Util-AskPrice, Auc-Util-AutoMagic, Auc-Util-CompactUI, Auc-Util-FixAH, Auc-Util-PriceLevel, Auc-Util-ScanButton, Auc-Util-ScanFinish, Auc-Util-ScanProgress, Auc-Util-VendMarkup, Auctioneer, Babylonian, BeanCounter, BottomScanner, Configator, DebugLib, Enchantrix, Enchantrix-Barker, EnhTooltip, Informant, Stubby, SlideBar.
In Windows DOS mode you can use the following command, be sure that you are in the Interface/AddOns directory:
rmdir /s !Swatter Auc-Advanced Auc-DB Auc-Filter-Basic Auc-Filter-Outlier Auc-Match-Undercut Auc-ScanData Auc-Stat-BeanCount Auc-Stat-Classic Auc-Stat-Histogram Auc-Stat-iLevel Auc-Stat-Purchased Auc-Stat-Simple Auc-Stat-StdDev Auc-Stat-WoWecon Auc-Util-Appraiser Auc-Util-AskPrice Auc-Util-AutoMagic Auc-Util-CompactUI Auc-Util-FixAH Auc-Util-PriceLevel Auc-Util-ScanButton Auc-Util-ScanFinish Auc-Util-ScanProgress Auc-Util-VendMarkup Auctioneer Babylonian BeanCounter BottomScanner Configator DebugLib Enchantrix Enchantrix-Barker EnhTooltip Informant Stubby SlideBar
For Gatherer, the equivalent command would be:
rmdir /s !Swatter SlideBar Gatherer GatherDB_WoWHead Gatherer_HUD
To have one command for both, just add the last three folders mentioned in the Gatherer command to the end of the Auctioneer command listed above it.
Extracting Auctioneer
Copy the contents of the Auctioneer zip file to your AddOns folder. See below for more detailed instructions.Open the zip file
Find the file you downloaded in step 1 and double-click the icon in Explorer to open the file in your favorite archive extraction application. If you don't have one, you can get a free one called 7-Zip from the 7-Zip download page which will handle most of your file extraction needs and more. The following instructions assume you are using it. If you have a different one, the procedure will be mostly similar.Select the files
When the zip file browser opens, select all the files in the file view by using the mouse or going to the application's Edit menu and choose Select All. Note: You may not wish to extract all the files, however if you do decide to leave some files out, you must at minimum install Stubby and LibExtraTip , as they are required library functions that all the other AddOns in the Auctioneer Pack use.Note: The Auctioneer Suite and the basic Auctioneer package will, obviously, have more folders than depicted here. This is for illustrative purposes only.
Select copy
Click the copy button on the tool bar to begin the installation process. A dialog will pop up, asking you where to put the selected folders to when the contents are extracted.Browse to destination
Press the ... button at the right side of the dialog box, and a folder browser will appear, select the ..\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns folder and click OKSelect OK
Now you will be returned to the Copy dialog, but with the correct path in the text input field. Select OK to complete the process and begin copying the files to your World of Warcraft's AddOns folder.Wait for a bit
A dialog will briefly pop up to chart the extraction process's progress, and once finished will disappear. Simply close the 7-Zip application, as we are now finished with it.Completed
You have now completed the installation of your new Auctioneer AddOns.Note: When you use AddOn Libraries that install themselves and clean the AddOn folder, or tools like the Curse Client, it is wise to install Auctioneer (and it's sister AddOns) to another folder first (e.g. a special "Auctioneer" folder in your files/documents directory) and then copy the files manually to the AddOns folder.
Most of the time the installer of the AddOn Library will not delete AddOns that are not in the library, but in this way you have at least a backup on your drive in case it (by accident) is deleted.
If you need help configuring World of Warcraft to enable your AddOn, please see the Enabling Auctioneer in WoW section.
